Oh wow, I so understand what you are going through. My boyfriend and I rented a Sakura House apartment in Setagaya-ku (still staying there) and the first day we moved in we found 2 near the door. We live in Canada and we've never seen a cockroach in our lives so we assumed they were just giant weird looking crickets and killed them without any fuss being too tired from the flight.

We saw a few others (7 so far) and we've been here for 2 weeks now. We're definitely going to buy traps tomorrow because they freak me out. I can stand the beetles (they're kinda cute actually) and I don't mind the spiders too much, but the cockroaches... that's just gross.

The AC is staying on all the time now, I don't want them to feel comfy in this place.

I will let Sakura House know about this, although I doubt they'll do anything. It looks like Japan is the cockroach paradise...

Nikki, your blogs are very interesting, especially the one on cockroaches. hope the traps are helpful. Did you go online to see if there are any natural remedies to get rid of these unwanted and unwelcome creatures?

As you know, it is the humidity that makes them breed. It has nothing to do with cleanliness. I know how freaked out I was, when I saw cockroaches for the first time in my life. I could not sleep, I feared they would get into my bed and get into Prerna's clothes or get into food. I kept the place spotless but they still kept coming even after the maintenance people sprayed it. When we moved from Baltimore to New Mexico I was happy that I would never have to see them again. I made sure that no cockroach would be transported in my belongings to NM.

I think, they are a nuisance but they are harmless. So, rest easy they will not be able to get in your eyes or hair.

This is all part of the experience of living in a foreign country. You are very resourceful to find ways to deal with any problem you encounter.

Take care of yourself and try to enjoy your stay because soon it will be a memory.

Love and hugs,
