北海道は地名にアイヌ語がたくさん残っていますね。
「サッポロ」もアイヌ語で、たしか、乾いた川とかいう意味らしい。
There are many Ainu words in place names of Hokkaido. I hear that Sapporo means Dry Big River in Ainu (ethnic group in Japan) language.</description>
